DARS stands for Distributed Autonomous Robotic Systems and is a biennial symposium that has been bringing together researchers in robotics since 1992.

The symposium was founded by Prof. Hajime Asama of the University of Tokyo, who established what has become a leading global event in multi-robot systems and decentralized robotics.

From its humble beginnings in Japan, DARS has been held seventeen times across Europe, Asia, and North America. Over the years, its community has continued to grow, making the symposium an increasingly competitive and internationally recognized event within the scientific community.
